I need a photo

Joined the Navy 30th of July, 1940 as a Midshipman and was ordered to training on board the USS Arkansas. Upon completion of this training, was ordered to V7 training on board the USS Illinois.

Commissioned Ensign US Naval Reserve February 1941.

Joined USS Nashville CL43 late Feb 1941 at Pearl Harbor. It was my lot to serve aboard her until Decernber 1944. The Nashville was deployed to the East Coast May 1941, and redeployed back to the Pacific Feb 1942. During my tour on board, the ship received the following citations: "A" for action in the Atlantic Theater prior to war; Nine Battle Stars in the Pacific Theater; and Two Stars in the Philippine Theater. Returned to the States early 1945. Commissioned the USS Little Rock. Applied for regular Navy and was accepted.

  • 1946 - Joined staff of Commander 16th Fleet in New Orleans.
  • 1947 - Attended the General Line School
  • 1948 - Ordered as Executive Officer of the USS William C. Law DD763.
  • 1950 - Took command of the Resecve Training Center, San Jose, California.
  • 1952 - Ordered to Nuclear Weapons School
  • 1952 - Ordered to staff of Carrier Division Four as Gunnery and Special Weapons Officer.
  • 1954 - Took command of the USS Charles P. Cecil DDR835.
  • 1955 - Cecil was awarded the E
  • 1956 - Ordeved as Assistant Inspector General of the 16th Fleet.
  • 1959 - Ordered to the Receiving Station, Brooklyn, NY as Executive Officer.
  • 1961 - 31 August 7 Decided to retire from the Navy in order to spend time with family and pursue civilian life.
