CDR Ben H. Stough, Jr. 1956-1957 |

Commander Stough took command of the USS Charles P. Cecil (DDR 835 ) on April 21, 1956 at Norfolk Virginia soon after the ship came out of the shipyard following an extensive overhaul. Cdr. Strough is a graduate of Birmingham Southern Collage and took graduate work at Alabama Polytechnic Institute, Auburn, Alabama. He came on duty in 1941 and transferred to the regular Navy in 1946. One year after his commissioning in the U. S. Naval Reserve on 16 January 1942, Cdr Stough was assigned to command the U.S.S. PC- 464 which was serving in convoy patrol duty in the Atlantic. Cdr. Stough later served on several different ships and has commanded the U.S.S. Robert F. Keller ( DE - 419 ) and the U.S.S. Currier ( DE - 700 ). Before reporting to the Cecil Cdr. Stough served as Executive Officer on board the U.S.S. Monrovia ( APA - 31 ) .
