Upon successful completion of the Evaluation of the Electronic Data System, certain praiseworthy messages were addressed to Destroyer Div. 262. That CECIL shared in these praiseworthy messages is due in no small part to the efforts made by you in this evaluation project. Following are extracts from these massages for your record: a. From COMOPDEVFOR 162245Z June 1959 ; "DESDIV 262 prosecution of project OP/5480 was outstanding in that this project was completed ahead of schedule in spite of various material failures and compressed allotment of time." b. From COMDESFLOT 4 message 171840Z June 1959; "COMOPDEVFOR 162245Z noted with great pleasure. Well done to you and your sharp Div.. Harry Smith." c. From ADMIN COMDESLANT 172232Z June 1959; "Destroyerman sprit exemplified by your positive aggressive leadership during concept CMM installation and evaluation of this import project will contribute greatly to the advancement of Destroyer Warfare. Well done." d. From Commander Destroyer Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, letter dated 19 June 1959; "Dear Commodore, I have noted with greatest pleasure COMOPDEVFOR 162245Z. Please pass to your ships my admiration and appreciation for through their preparations for and successful conduct of the Technical Education and Operational Evaluation of the Electronic Data System. Your task was preformed in a manner befitting Destroyermen. Well done. Sincerely, E. B. Taylor, Rear Admiral U.S. Navy" e. From Commander Destroyer Div. 262, letter dated 9 June 1959; "This outstanding performance could have been accomplished only with the full cooperation, leadership, initiative, hard work and Destroyerman spirit of the Commanding Officer and the fine Officers and men of the CECIL. You have my sincere appreciation and congratulations for an important job. Well done. A. B. Register" 2. There is little I can add to the above letters and messages except that the CECIL's part in the Electronic Data System could not have been successfully accomplished without your enthusiasm, cooperation, professional competence, and hard work.
