Herve   &  Tony

Ahoy Shipmates

Just a few words to give you all a heads up on some of the events we have planned for the USS Charles P. Cecil twelfth annual ships reunion to be held in San Diego (Sunday, October 15th to Friday, October 20th [with an option to extend it through Saturday, October 21st]). Your shipmates Herve Collette and Tony DeLanzo have been assigned to a working party to out together a great Liberty for you and yours!

We were told by good sources that you may get better air fares if you stay after Saturday. We thought that we would consider scheduling an optional tour for Saturday, October 21st. We have lined up a tour to the Lawrence Welk Resorts for a luncheon and the theater performance, "A Tribute to Frank Sinatra". Sound good to you? Let us have your feedback so we can finalize the details.

We have selected the Holiday Inn as the Home Port. [595 Hotel circle,San Diego,Ca.92108) Website is-- (www.holidayinnselectsd.com)

The rate they are offering is $85.00 + Tax. They also offer a free shuttle from the Airport, which is about 9 miles from the hotel. Parking is pretty good at the hotel for rental cars. They also offer a shuttle to the Trolley cars. We have lined up some good tours that include:

A city tour with a harborside luncheon. A 2-hour harbor excursion cruise with a box lunch at the Seaport Village -- LaJolla tour(trips to-Steven Birch Aquarium--Mt Soledad and City of La Jolla, also a harborside luncheon. A Wild Animal Park Tour (with a narrated monorail around the reserve)

A Memorial Service at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery followed by a tour of the aircraft carrier Midway. All this with more to follow by the time we publish the Registration Forms. Stay tuned.

We are hoping that you all will join us, The Collettes and the DeLanzos, in San Diego. Please provide us with your input to help us tailor the reunion schedule of events to your desires. There will be a special Feedback Form published on the Cecil's Web Site that you can use to submit your ideas to Herve and Tony via the Internet.

NOTE: It was brought to our attention that it is not a good idea to go to Tijuana, Mexico due to problems with Americans being held for ransom.

Yours truly,
Shipmates Colette & DeLanzo
