From Grassroots Central

In regard to certain statements and allegations made a week or so ago in this paper about myself and the wonderful group of Hudson residents whom I represent.  It was stated that we, as a group, and myself, individually, were against the building of a vast amount of retail space on the Green Meadows golf course site because, we, I, as a real estate broker, wanted to purchase the land at fire sale prices and develop the site as whatever.  I am a real estate broker, and I am against any large-scale buildup of retail space on that site due to the fact, that, in my opinion, and the opinion of 700-plus residents/members of the town, that a large-scale buildup of retail space on that site would destroy the way and quality of life that we presently enjoy here in our little town.  Not one person/member of Grassroots Central, including myself, have any interest at all in purchasing, developing, and selling anything that now belongs to the Friel family  that includes the Green Meadows golf course in particular.  If the Friel family offered me the 405-acre site for $1 an acre, I’d turn them down.  I do not have any interest in that piece of land, due to the fact that I do head up this large group of residents who want the zoning on that property changed from general one into any other zoning, whatever it is.  I wear one hat only, and the logo on that hat says, Hudson Grassroots Central and that is where my loyalty lies.  I will cite the reasons for our blocking the way for and large-scale retail buildup on that site in a few words.  1. Our roads cannot handle the traffic a mega-mall would bring, 2. Due to air pollution that more and more traffic would bring, 3. Is more traffic lights on Lowell Road; just look at what is happening with the new traffic lights across from Fox Hollow Condominiums, where that one light causes gridlock every day, as traffic grinds to a halt, 4. Is road widening, and the taking of homes in many areas to accommodate increased traffic.  Grassroots Central estimates an additional 2,900 cars and trucks on Lowell Road alone per day.  We are against eminent domain unless the state or the town takes property for the good of the town and its citizens only.  My only interest in the site discussed here is to maintain the lifestyle that all Hudson citizens have become accustomed to.  I have no, repeat, no, real estate interest in the Green Meadows golf course, non whatever, nor will I accept any offers made to me to sell the property for the Friel family or anyone else.  I  hope that this statement will show everyone exactly where I stand on this issue.
