GREEN MEADOW DEVELOPER JUMPS TO PROJECT ACROSS RIVER IN NASHUA

HUDSON – Plans to build a massive open-air shopping center on the Green Meadow Golf Club have been scrapped, and the development firm is instead partnering with another Massachusetts developer to construct a similar so-called “lifestyle center” across the Merrimack River in Nashua.

W/S Development Inc. Tuesday afternoon officially withdrew all its permit applications with the town of Hudson for the construction of RiverPlace, an outdoor shopping bazaar that would have been the largest retail center in New England.

The retail developers have also terminated their agreement to purchase the sprawling 375-acre Green Meadows golf club overlooking the Merrimack River, said W/S Project Manager Edward Vydra.

W/S has instead opted to enter into a “joint venture” with New England Development Inc. and its affiliate, Packard Development, to build Nashua Landing, another smaller lifestyle center across the Merrimack River from Green Meadows.

Nashua Landing would be a 450,000-square-foot shopping plaza at the former home of Hampshire Chemical, on East Spit Brook Road and just off Daniel Webster.
