Hudson Grass Roots Central Update

It seems for all intents and purposes that we, the residents, citizens, and voters of the wonderful town of Hudson, New Hampshire have had the yoke of oppression lifted off of our collective necks with the story that broke in a local daily paper recently which stated in effect that the New Hampshire Department of Transportation was just about in receivership, and had no funds to begin, finish, or clean up any road or bridge work within the State due to a complete lack of funds.  Hence, a request for new toll increases around the State on many toll roads was asked for and approved.  I understand that these new tolls which will affect the Hampton toll booth costs the most, from $1 to $1.50, and most other toll increases by 25 cents per vehicle.

What this means to me is there will not be any interchange built off the Sagamore Bridge into the Green Meadow Golf Course area, no matter who buys it, or what the new owner builds there.  There will be no traffic relief from the State.  Nor will there be any widening of any State roads in Hudson for any reason for quite some time to come.  In my opinion, the Hudson Circumferential Highway is dead, never to be heard from again, and as far as that new proposed bridge over the Merrimack goes, you can forget about that, 100 percent.  It will never be built in my or your lifetime.  That was a borax deal anyway, telling the public that “the cost would be $1 until the bridge was paid off and then it would be free to the citizens of New Hampshire.”  That has to be the biggest lie ever spoken by a politician, as there has never ever been a toll anywhere, in any State, for any reason, ever, been rescinded, and the citizens able to use the former toll road, bridge, or whatever, for free.  We had a tax put on our telephones back in 1942 called a “war tax” to help us win World War II; it is still on your phone bill as of today, only today it masquerades as “Federal tax.”  Listen closely now.  “Once a tax or a toll is on the books it is never taken off.”  The mismanagement of DOT in the past few years has worked to Hudson’s advantage.  I welcome that fact.  No one asked me; I just thought I’d put my opinion out there.  I suspect that the Golf Course will remain just that, a Golf Course for quite a while now.
