Ed,
Following your input I finally tracked John down.
He has indeed been through the mill. After a series of
heart attacks he reached the point where only a transplant
would save him and he received that in 2005. His wife
brought him through all of this only to die herself in 2006.
That was devastating to him but his son and daughter helped
him share his loss. They almost lost him again in January of
this year from pneumonia and other complications. He has
been unable to carry on a conversation until only a few weeks
ago but since then he seems to be making a remarkable recovery.
I talked to him on the phone a few nights ago and he seemed much
like himself to me. His son thinks it's a miracle so keep your
fingers crossed and hope and pray it continues.

lost another one of our classmates. Bob Loftus, Age 73, of Fairfield, CT, died Sunday,
