Robert Loftus

 
Age 73, of Fairfield, CT, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. 
Bob was reared in Winchester, MA. After graduating From Winchester High School, he worked as 
a Technician, until he joined the Army during the Korean conflict. He was in A.S.A. 
(Army Security Agency) and spent most of his three years of active duty with the Signal 
Corps Engineering Laboratories at Fort Monmouth, NJ until his release as a Sergeant First Class. 
He was then employed by Signal School at Fort Monmouth, as an instructor of Microwave and 
Cryptographic equipment while attending Monmouth College evenings and acquired a B.S.E.E. 
(Electrical Engineering Degree) plus a B.S. in Secondary Education Degree. He left the 
government to teach physics, chemistry, and electronics in private and public schools in 
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. He also worked on Staff for the I.E.E.E. as Manager of 
Educational Activities. Later, he acquired a Master's Degree and Sixth and Seventh year degrees 
in Administration and Supervision from Fairfield University. Bob also worked for RCA and Xerox 
Corporation and was active in many organizations including, Electrical Engineering Society, 
American Society for Engineering Education, National Science Teachers' Association, Armed Forces 
Elect Association, American Association Advisory of Science, The Fairfield Lions Club as 
Past President and Deputy District Governor, The American Diabetes Association as Board of Governors, 
The American Legion Fairfield, V.F.W. Post #9460, Stratford, CT, The Navy League Catholic War Veterans, 
The Knight of Columbus (3rd and 4th Degrees), The Ancient Order of Hibernians, The Elks Lodge 2220, 
The Gaelic American Club, and The National Association of Naval Veterans Port 5. Bob was also a 
Justice of the Peace. He is survived by three brothers, James, Richard, and David Loftus, one sister 
Irene and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Marie and Ruthann. Funeral Services 
will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11 AM at St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester,
