Week 17 Tom Peghiny Stops By

Luckily for us, Tom Peghiny, one of the principle designers of the FlightStar, grew up in nearby Newton, MA.

He, graciously, volunteered to stop by during one of his family visits and give our plane an inspection.

Tom is a legend in the hang-glider community and his knowledge of lightplanes and their construction is apparent whenever you speak with him.

Rarely, have I ever met a more direct and sincere person.

Tom goes over some of the ongoing maintenance features in the builder's manual.

Tom says, "It's ready to go".

Our plane is parked near the airport perimeter fence, and we get plenty of curiosity visitors.

One of our first visitors was this fellow, Dave McInerny.

Dave shocked both Joanne and I when he said, through the fence, "Say, is that a FlightStar". We didn't have our decals on yet and we were very impressed that he knew what it was.

Naturally, we had him come in, sit in the cockpit, started the engine for him and generally tried to dazzle him with how cool our plane is.

Dave wants to build a plane of his own. But, I haven't heard if he ever did yet.
